We are thrilled to have a handful of All Bodies Dance Project facilitators join us online over the next few months! This Saturday, we get to dance with Harmanie.

Harmanie Rose is a disabled dance artist. Through her fifteen-plus years in dance, she has helped build iDance Edmonton (AB) (now known as CRIPSiE) aswell as working with All Bodies Dance Project (BC) since its inception in 2014. Harmanie has worked as a facilitator for All Bodies Dance Project, New Works, and National Access Arts Centre. She has collaborated on dance films, including Alice Sheppard’s Inclinations, Sanctuary with Rianne Svelnis and Martin Borden, and In Place, created with Kelsie Acton thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts digital shorts grant.

Harmanie’s residency with Dumb Instrument Dance at Morrow in October 2022, The Art of Falling, researched the creative potential of falling with disabled and non-disabled bodies. Through this and future research, Harmanie wants to create reciprocal relationships through dance that deepen our understanding of our bodies and connection to people and spaces.

Saturday January 18th, from 11am-1230pm.

Sunday afternoon sounds like a perfect time for some yoga and a great way to end the Beats, Books and Bargains weekend. Join us for some relaxation with the wonderful Allison Ulan!

Allison Ulan B.F.A. Dance, E-RYT 500 since 2008, YACEP, Vipassana Meditation
Since 1996, Allison has been instructing Yoga and Vipassana Meditation. Her approach blends the traditional practices of Yoga with current research based practices of neurology and somatic therapy. Plus, having had a contemporary dance career from 1987 to 2009, she integrates somatic approaches to support healthy movement choices for students. She founded Ashtanga Yoga Montreal in 2000 and directed the studio until 2018. Then she transitioned her career to offering Yoga and Mindfulness and schools and addiction centers. She returned to Edmonton to support her family and currently instructs classes for The City of Edmonton and RGC plus offers her own classes at McKernan Community Hall. Come and enjoy a yoga class in the principles of structural alignment and breath work so you can access ease, freedom and joy in your body.

Arts leaders from 13 organizations, across three provinces and five cities are uniting to launch a unique campaign to benefit all performing arts in the Prairies.

More than just a marketing initiative, The Prairie Live Arts Campaign is a collective movement to amplify the heartbeat of our communities through the power of live arts.

Determined to bring the energy and excitement of Bollywood dance to the disability community, Roneel reached out to choreographer Palak Sharma and his friend Bean Gill. Together, they created Bollywheels, a space where people of all abilities can express themselves, connect with others, and celebrate the joy of movement. Through adaptive dance workshops, performances, and community events, Bollywheels empowers individuals to embrace their unique strengths and find freedom in motion. Join us as we dance, roll, and celebrate the rhythm of life together!
