Space Guidelines

 CRIPSiE Space Agreement

The following agreement is a set of guidelines that members and guests of CRIPSiE follow when working together, both in person and online. This agreement is upheld by each person who participates in a CRIPSiE event (i.e.,  class/workshop/rehearsal), the instructor/facilitator, and the rehearsal director. The rehearsal director is a member of CRIPSiE who will be responsible for upholding this agreement at each event and following up with participants who require support to follow the guidelines outlined in this agreement.

This agreement is intended to create welcoming spaces for all and to support creativity, mutual respect, learning and growth during CRIPSiE events. When registering for a CRIPSiE event and upon reading this agreement, please consider it a confirmation that you will participate according to these guidelines. If this agreement is repeatedly broken, you will be asked to leave the space to discuss options.

In-Person Events

  • Respect the rehearsal director. They are there to create a safe and inclusive space for all.

  • Try your best to enter the space with a positive and creative attitude. We all have tough days, and letting us know is encouraged so we can all be gentle with each other, but please keep the space positive for others.

  • Bullying, name-calling, yelling and/or touching someone without their permission is not allowed.

  • Arrange to meet before or after virtual or in-person events to catch up or visit, but respect the facilitator will be busy getting prepared or packing up and will require that time for their activities.

  • Come earlier or later if you need to warm up or cool down before or after a CRIPSiE event.

  • Advocate for your needs in the space by asking for accessibility support and taking breaks.

  • Opting out of any activity and watching is your choice during classes and workshops. If you wish to opt-out, you can watch quietly from the sidelines. If focus is an issue for you, you can ask for the recording later. Please do not distract the other dancers who are moving, etc.

  • Ask for permission before touching people and their mobility devices.

  • Do what you can to support the facilitator. If you are having issues with direction, please reach out to the rehearsal director for clarification. CRIPSiE uses different processes to create art with a facilitator or choreographer. Sometimes, we are more collaborative, with everyone sharing and trying out ideas. Other times, we have one person leading, and others are following.

  • Appreciate each person and their opinions. Listen with openness to others ideas.

  • Be gentle with each other and ourselves.

  • Encourage learning, growth and permission to make mistakes.

  • Value everyone’s time during events by turning your cell phone silent or powering off until the break.

  • Having a brief check-in and check-out with participants is the decision of each facilitator.

  • Practice kindness for our community by not wearing perfumes, colognes or scented products.

  • Support persons who need to wear a mask or require space to protect their health by discussing whether masks should be worn by everyone and giving space when asked.

  • Ensure enough time is needed for mobility devices to be wiped dry from snow or rain by the rehearsal director.

  • Book your ride so you arrive no more than thirty minutes before and leave thirty minutes after. If you need help with transportation, please get in touch with us at rebecca@cripsie.com.

  • Be responsible for attending classes/workshops/rehearsals and practicing activities at home (when asked) if you wish to be a part of performance opportunities.

Support the health and safety of all our community members; please do not come to any events if you have any of the following symptoms below. If you do, you will be asked to leave.
